Even if you speak English fluently and confidently, there might happen situations when you don't understand what someone says. For example, you work in an office and often hear your co-workers use phrases and expressions which make absolutely no sense to you. Well, it's called "Business jargon" and it can be pretty annoying.

There are various reasons why companies use team building activities. Ice breakers (described in the previous article) are just one example of them. They can be used for communication improvement, morale boost, motivation, productivity development, for co-workers to get to know each other better, just to name a few.

In the United States of America, it is necessary to make "small talk" in some situations. SMALL TALK is a type of conversation which helps 'break the ice' and fill moments of awkward silence. Students might be shy in these situations, because they have to use their second language. However, it is considered rude to say nothing when a person starts talking to you.
