Chicago is a great place to be in the summer. Why? Not just because of the beautiful weather and the lake, but because of the great summer events that take place throughout the city.
Below are some of Chicago's events in the summer 2014.
1. Summer Concerts

2. Summer Film Series
Every Tuesday, June 24-August 29
Come to the Jay Pritzker Pavillion in Millennium Park for a free movie with many other Chicagoans. Bring your friends!
3. Chicago Gospel Music Festival
Chicago Cultural Center and other locations
If you like gospel music, then this is the place to be!
4. Chicago Summer Dance
June 27-September 14
Every summer, the music garden in Grant park is used as a venue for Chicago’s Summer Dance. Come on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday for live performances and even dance lessons before the performance starts!
5. Taste of Chicago
Many Chicago restaurants set up booths in Grant park so everyone can try their food. When you go to the Taste of Chicago, you won’t leave hungry!
6. Chicago Air and Water Show

Enjoy some of the best fighter jet pilots’ incredible routines and maneuvers near downtown Chicago.
7. Chicago Jazz Festival
The Chicago Jazz Festival is the longest-running festival in Chicago. It started 35 years ago. Ever since then, on Labor Day weekend, some famous Jazz artists have played for Chicagoans during this festival.
Every Wednesday and Saturday
On Wednesdays at 9:30PM and Fridays at 10:15PM, come to Navy Pier for some beautiful fireworks! There will also be special Independence Day fireworks on Friday, July 4 at 9:30PM.
